The Sous Chef is responsible for managing the daily operations of the kitchen. Operations include scheduling, meeting or exceeding budgeted labour and other cost centers, as well as overseeing inventory and the ordering of food and supplies.
In addition, the Sous Chef ensures excellence in guest satisfaction through effective training of staff, commitment to a "Do Whatever It Takes" attitude, and a hands-on management style that upholds leading by example.
We are looking for someone to start out in an hourly role at around $17/h for 3 months, then transition to a salaried role starting between $45K +++. We offer the traditional 8 hour, 5 day work week, or if it suits your lifestyle, we also offer 10 hour, 4 day work weeks with 3 consecutive days off.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 2 years of Sous Chef experience in a full-service, structured dining establishment
- Strong knowledge of back of the house operations including food, beverage, staff supervision, food safety and inventory
- Strong understanding of cost and labour systems that lead to restaurant profitability
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods
- Strong communication and leadership skills combined with advanced computer and math skills
