Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant
Peach City Animal Hospital is seeking an energetic, compassionate, outgoing, and dependable Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional who enjoys working with both people and animals and takes pride in creating a welcoming, positive experience for clients and their pets.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting our clinical team and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the hospital. We are looking for someone who is compassionate, highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced veterinary healthcare environment.
Position Overview
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented individual with exceptional customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a busy clinical setting. This position is responsible for client communication, reception and administrative duties, patient record management, and assisting the veterinary team as required.
Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, animal-care, or medical environment is preferred. Laboratory experience would be considered a valuable asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and their pets warmly and professionally, creating an exceptional first and last impression.
- Answer telephone calls, schedule appointments, and respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized patient records, including updating medical histories and client information.
- Assist with client check-in and check-out procedures.
- Process payments and maintain accurate billing records.
- Provide support with laboratory tasks and assist with diagnostic and treatment procedures as required.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding treatment plans, follow-up appointments, medications, and home-care instructions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and client area.
- Assist the veterinary team with administrative and operational duties to support efficient clinic workflow.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, animal-care facility, or medical setting is preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable, professional, and calm demeanor.
- Professional appearance and polished presentation.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and adapt effectively in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Resourceful, self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn.
- Excellent telephone etiquette, active listening skills, and compassionate client communication.
- Ability to handle challenging or sensitive client concerns with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
- Proficient computer skills and the ability to learn new software and practice-management systems quickly.
