The Child and Family Protection Worker (CFPW) will complete the investigation and assessment of child protection concerns and will make decisions with respect to appropriate service response as per Standards and Protocol. They provide short term clinical services for up to sixty (60) days following the original intake screen and assignment to them as a protection Investigation. The basic objective is to ensure an immediate agency response to reports which suggest that a child is at risk of harm in his/her current environment. At the conclusion of the investigation and assessment, the CFPW, in conjunction with a qualified Supervisor, will make a clinical decision to either close services with a family or transfer for continued services at the On-going level. If the CFPW remains involved at the On-going level, they will provide child protection and prevention services as required by the Child and Youth Family Services Act and to enhance children's services development in the community. A Signs of Safety Model will be used by the CFPW from the Investigation through to On-going Services.
