Role Summary

The Institutional Wealth Relationship Manager is part of the Wealth Sales team that will support our commercial and institutional investment management growth plan. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for both sales and client service with an emphasis on business development and sales activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Commercial business leaders, tax and insurance specialists, strategize on the sales process, identify prospective clients, develop and deliver presentations, and provide the best investment solutions and strategies to commercial and institutional members. A key part of this role will be identifying Commercial and Institutional prospects, building strong client-facing relationships in order to grow assets under management and provide investment solutions. In the Member Relations function, the successful candidate will be responsible to build relationships with the Commercial business partners promoting Meridian CU its investment strategies.

The position will be reporting to the Director of Wealth Sales and will work closely with the wealth team driving sales and member retention for Meridian’s commercial and institutional business.

Key Responsibilities

Strategize on the commercial institutional sales process
Identify prospective institutional clients and build strong client-facing relationships in order to grow assets under management and to provide investment solutions to Commercial and Institutional members
Provide the best investment solutions and strategies to institutional and commercial Members.
Initiates and follow-ups on new business opportunities.
Leads new business meetings and closes sales to institutional investors and consultants.
Leverages Meridian’s relationship with existing institutional accounts by developing and executing proactive, creative and ongoing contact initiatives.
Develops and maintains relationships with clients
Assists in the development and launching of new products
Acts as a liaison to the wealth management team to ensure active, enthusiastic support of the sales and marketing process.
Ensures that products and sales materials are always updated and focused for the applicable presentation, conference or opportunity.
In the Member Relations function, the successful candidate will be responsible to build relationships with Commercial relationship and Business Development Managers promoting Wealth and its investment strategies
Must possess the analytical skills necessary to discuss all investment strategy options in Meridian’s solution set

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Established relationships with investment consultants and industry service providers
High level of market acumen and credibility within the member and consultant community
Must be consistent and effective in prospecting and sales planning, and driven to win business by understanding member needs, responding with the right solutions
Experience with investing strategies in the institutional asset management space
Must have superior presentation, sales, and relationship management skills
Must possess the analytical skills necessary to discuss all investment strategy options in Meridian’s solution set
Networking and negotiation skills with the ability to build credibility and rapport with clients
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organization, planning and leadership skills are required

Education, Designations, Training, and Experience

Minimum 7-10 years of professional working experience in wealth management or financial services
Bachelor degree required
A CFA Charter or CFA in progress or a CIM designation. CFP and other professional designations would be an asset
Ability to be a OSC or IIROC registrant
