We are looking for an experienced Site Superintendent to manage and coordinate the construction of a new build project in Petawawa.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Site Superintendent will supervise, coordinate, and control all job site activities including the trades, health and safety requirements, site security, and site cleanliness. Strong working relationships with clients will be maintained, while successfully directing sub-contractors and other construction-related personnel in planning, coordinating, and safely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule, and budget.
Tasks and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Site Management and Coordination
- Provide on-site management oversight for all phases of the construction project.
- Participate in preparing the project plan and schedule.
- Conduct construction start-up, tailgate, in progress meetings with sub-trades and FTC labour.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery of materials and resources.
- Establish the labour requirements, coordinate sub-trades, supervise the work of construction site employees, and oversee progress.
- Ensure all contractual documents (drawings, specifications, RFI’s, CO’s, CD’s) are being followed and communicate with consultants as required.
- Attend coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Complete various reports required by H&S and Construction departments of FTC.
- Keep as-built drawings and construction site logbook up to date; perform follow-ups according to established procedures.
- Organize final inspections to obtain formal approvals on deliverables and Occupancy Permit.
- Conduct project wrap-up alongside the Construction Project & Site Manager(s).
Team Leadership and Communication
- Provide clear direction, guidance, and support to construction teams and subcontractors.
- Communicate effectively with project team members, subcontractors, and stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is aligned with project goals and expectations.
- In collaboration with the Construction Advisor, train and supervise new hires.
Safety and Risk Management
- Anticipate and resolve potential problems, work interference or schedule difficulties. Advise the Construction Project & Site Manager(s) as required.
- Follow and enforce all Health and Safety policies and procedures, and ensure all workers have the proper training and PPE to perform their tasks.
- Ensure safety measures are in place, and immediately correct unsafe environments and
- practices
- Prepare and submit mandatory daily health and safety reports through mobile application.
Quality Assurance and Control
- Work alongside the Quality Control team to ensure the quality of workmanship and materials.
- Implement actions to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Receive and verify deliveries of material and equipment against approved shop drawings.
Construction
- Set out control lines and level markers.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance to construction crews, demonstrating proper techniques and safety practices.
- Participate in maintaining a clean a tidy job site.
- Any other duties as required.
Position Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in ICI construction
- Post-secondary education in construction management or related field
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to maintain a security clearance (Secret)
- WHMIS, Working at Heights, Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness in 5 Steps and First Aid/CPR Certification
- Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, and weekends is required
- Exceptional knowledge of the various construction disciplines and plan reading ability
- Strong leadership, skilled people manager and decision maker
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to present a professional image while building interpersonal and business relationships
- Occasional heavy lifting (exceeding 50kg)
