Graphic designer, video and motion graphics artist
Graphic Designers use two or three-dimensional art to create visual concepts. They design logos and layout designs for print and electronic media including websites, magazines, brochures, user interfaces, product labels, reports and advertisements. They work with other professionals to incorporate typesetting, illustration, photography, and even programming, to ensure products display as intended. Great Graphic Designers understand how to communicate brands visually and effectively.
The Video and Motion Graphics Artist uses visual design or video to communicate an idea concept or story. They are incredibly creative and collaborative in their approach because they work with business teams cross-functionally to develop a workable design.
The ideal candidate will have high-end digital skills and be an expert with interactive media software, which could include graphic design and video editing to three-dimensional animation.
They will be agile at brainstorming, creating custom graphics that transmit ideas across digital platforms. They will also be deadline driven, organized and detail obsessed. They will possess top notch interpersonal and communication skills and be a motivated self-starter, able to work independently as well as with group.
Create and design various materials for print and digital collateral
Ensure projects are completed with high quality and on schedule
Enforce creative direction for the company as well as brand guidelines
Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions
Following direction to capture video footage and photography of webinars, interviews, events, products, and other marketing assets.
Setting up lighting and audio equipment for video and photography shoots.
Work with a wide range of media and use graphic design software
Translating client needs and branding strategies into design strategies
Designing visual concepts using graphic design tools including design software
Selecting colors, fonts, photographs, layouts and other design elements to communicate creative concepts
Collaborating with art directors, branding experts, front end developers, marketing, content and other professionals to create media
Articulating and pitching design concepts to clients, art directors and others
Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials.
Plans concept by studying information and materials.
Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval.
Prepares finished copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment; and purchasing from vendors.
Prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art.
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment.
Completes projects by coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Design and create enticing motion graphics for video deliverables (corporate videos, eLearning, websites, marketing demos, etc.)
Prepare design plan, concept and layout for motion graphic project.
Create and deliver motion graphics in various media including web, mobile, etc.
Work with art and creative teams to understand project scope and objectives.
Assist in selecting audio, video, colors, and animation for graphic design.
Work with editors, producers and other designers to resolve technical and/or design issues.
Edit raw video footage and add effects/elements to enhance motion graphics.
Research and analyze best design techniques and solutions to create motion graphics.
Assist in designing and creating storyboards
Assist with finalizing business development presentations
Participate in brainstorming session to share new design perspectives and ideas.
Maintain and follow best practices for versioning control, naming convention and organization of graphic files.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge about latest graphic design techniques.
Ensure compliance with company guidelines and design standard
QUALIFICATIONS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, industrial design, graphic arts, design, motion graphics, animation or interior design
Five to eight years of demonstrated and proven experience
Professional level command of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web; Solid knowledge of design and visual principles
First hand professional experience working behind the camera to capture video and photography.
Expert level with the full Adobe CS6 Suite to include Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, InDesign, and other graphic design software; Mastery of graphic design, motion graphics, and animation software
Adobe After Effects
Final Cut Pro
Compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects; Demonstrated portfolio showing photography, videography, design and software skills
Some familiarity with HTML and CSS would be an asset
Strong analytical skills, Excellent eye for detail
