The Royal Volunteer Association is seeking a licensed, self-employed hairstylist for a contract position providing hair care services in the on-site salon at The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group.
We are looking for a hairstylist who is experienced in working with all hair types and textures, including curly, coily, tightly textured, and Afro-textured hair, to ensure our diverse patient population has access to inclusive, high-quality hair care.
Position Details
- Schedule: Fridays only (excluding statutory holidays).
- Operating Hours: Services may be offered between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. You may set your own schedule within these hours; however, all appointments must be completed by 4:00 p.m. Access to the salon is available only during these operating hours, and access outside of this time is not permitted.
- Clientele: Patients, staff, visitors, external bookings, and walk-in clients are welcome.
Compensation & Support
- Commission-only position with earnings of 70% of all service sales, paid bi-weekly.
- No chair rental or salon rental fees.
- Hair products and selected salon tools are provided by The Royal Volunteer Association.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensed hairstylist in Ontario.
- Must carry your own professional liability insurance.
- Experience working with a wide variety of hair types and textures.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while providing compassionate, respectful, person-centred care.
- Must provide an up-to-date Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
- Must comply with all hospital health and safety regulations, including providing proof of up-to-date vaccinations.
