Purpose:
Ancillary Services provides a wide range of professionally managed campus services and amenities to enhance the student experience and support York University's mission, vision and priorities. With a commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, Ancillary Services works with internal and external partners to provide exceptional experiences and enhance the quality of campus life in alignment with the University's core values.The Custodial Site Supervisor reports to the Assistant Manager, Custodial Operations and assists with the day-to-day coordination of housekeeping and cleaning services for 14 residence buildings on the Keele Campus. There are 8 Undergraduate Residence buildings that comprise of 2,250 bed spaces that include self-contained suites, single & double rooms and common shared facilities. The York Apartment Residences comprise of 1,300 self-contained units in six buildings. This position assists the Assistant Manager to plan and allocate resources for the daily operation of the buildings which includes but is not limited to year-round turnovers for conference and hospitality operations. This position includes adherence to all applicable legislation under the Residential Tenancies Act. This position is responsible for the day-to-day allocation of work assignments, site inspections and coordination of contract services such as pest control, carpet cleaning and contract cleaning, as required.
Education:
Post secondary diploma in a related field
Valid 'G' class Ontario Driver's License in good standing required
Experience:
3 years of recent and directly related experience in housekeeping or custodial services
1 year of management of supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment
Experience in a post-secondary student residential setting is an asset
Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of cleaning systems and quality assurance programs, including washroom & floor care, chemical products and use of custodial equipment and tools
Knowledge of inter waste / recycling management
Knowledge of electronic access controls
Knowledge of applicable legislation and Collective Agreements
Knowledge of StarRez platform is an asset

Additional Notes:
Significant amounts of time spent traveling between and walking around residence buildings to follow up on projects, conduct site inspections and responding to building and staff issues.

York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
