Cafe Malabar is looking for a Hospitality & Beverage Manager to join our leadership team.
We are a small but ambitious chef led restaurant inspired by the food, culture, and hospitality traditions of Kerala’s Malabar Coast in South India. The heart of our restaurant is sharing those traditions through food, beverage, storytelling, and the way we care for people.
Many of our dishes are rooted in the flavours and experiences Chef Kiran and Chef Karma grew up with, while also being shaped by the ingredients and hospitality culture of the West Coast. Creating an experience that feels warm, thoughtful, and memorable is deeply important to us.
Led by Chefs Kiran and Karma, recognized as Victoria’s 2025 Chefs of the Year, Cafe Malabar was also named Air Canada’s 5th Best New Restaurant in Canada in 2024. As we continue to grow, we are looking for the right person to grow alongside us.
We are looking for someone who genuinely loves hospitality. Someone who notices the details, stays calm under pressure, and understands that restaurants are about people and connection just as much as food and beverage.
This is a hands on leadership role. Some nights may involve leading service on the floor, helping the bar, running food, touching tables, supporting the team, or stepping into whatever is needed to help the restaurant succeed.
This role works closely with ownership and front-of-house leadership and is ideal for someone with strong hospitality instincts, beverage knowledge, and leadership experience who enjoys being part of a collaborative and evolving restaurant environment.
What the Role Includes:
- Supporting front of house operations and overall guest experience
- Leading service with warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Supporting beverage service, wine recommendations, cocktails, and bar standards
- Coaching and supporting the front of house team
- Working closely with ownership and leadership to continue strengthening systems and service standards
- Being adaptable and willing to step into different service roles depending on the needs of the day
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong hospitality and front of house experience
- Wine, cocktail, and beverage knowledge
- Strong people and communication skills
- Calm leadership during busy service
- Someone collaborative, adaptable, and team-oriented
- Someone who genuinely cares about hospitality and guest experience
- Must be 19+ with a valid Serving It Right certification
Compensation:
- $50,000–$55,000 annually
- Compensation based on experience
