Why is this role important?
In this role, you will contribute to priority initiatives within the Health Spending and Operations (HSO) department, supporting CIHI’s mandate of better data, better decisions, for healthier Canadians. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with healthcare data and analytics, while working on projects that directly inform decision-making across Canada’s health system.
HSO is responsible for maintaining the national Management Information System (MIS) Standards and collecting financial and statistical data from health service organizations across the country. This data feeds into CIHI’s Canadian MIS Database (CMDB) and Canadian Patient Cost Database (CPCD), which are used to produce key indicators, analytical tools, and reports that enable meaningful comparisons in health spending and system performance. The work is both complex and impactful - offering you exposure to real-world data challenges and solutions.

5. Support data quality improvements for key analytical products
6. Improve functionality of data tables to ease comprehension for stakeholders
7. Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing project discussions
8. Assist with additional departmental priorities as needed
What you'll bring to the table
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., computer science, data science, health informatics, or a related field) with a co-op requirement
