The Role: HR Generalist (Full-time)
The HR Generalist is a key member of the People Services team. Supporting both a positive employee experience and Program Managers, the HR Generalist supports both through the employment experience.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Onboarding and Off-boarding
-
Provide leaders with onboarding support within the defined process to ensure an exceptional new hire experience, administering new hire documentation including offer letters, benefits enrollment, data entry and file management.

Oversee the administration process for all agency required employee screening such as Police Checks and Intervention Record Checks (IRC) including timely follow up with leaders.
-
Support with the administration of voluntary and involuntary terminations and the off-boarding process, complete employee departure entries and ensure accurate information is entered for final pay.
Human Resources Administration
-
Respond in a timely manner to staff requests for data and paperwork. This includes but is not limited to Confirmation of Employment letters.

Create monthly reports and metrics to provide a real time synopsis on the current recruitment and turnover activity at Trellis.
-
Manage inquires providing knowledge of HR processes. Ensure the timely entry of all employee changes to meet payroll deadlines providing support as needed.

Perform frequent audits of employee data to ensure consistency and accuracy, creating and establishing new processes where needed.
Staff Wellbeing & Disability/WCB Management
-
Interpret and communicate benefits programs, changes, updates benefits and answer questions pertaining to the program.

Liaise with external benefits providers to stay updated on policies and changes.
-
Manage and coordinate all disability and Workers Compensation Board (WCB) claims, reporting and documentation for injured staff, liaising with WCB as required.
-
Coordinate staff leave requests, provide interpretation of Trellis policies and guidelines and interpret and communicate applicable legislation.
-
Coordinate the return-to-work process including requests for workplace accommodations and work modifications as required, and in accordance with relevant legislation.
Employee Relations & Talent Management
-
Conduct investigations, summarize findings, and recommend and implement solutions related to employee conflict and/or complaints.

Coach managers on Performance Management
-
Provide support with accurate, efficient, and user-friendly file management of training records and certifications as per accreditation standards.

Support with the annual performance review process including communication with leaders, tracking and filling of performance reviews as per defined schedules.

Demonstrate knowledge and application of provincial employment legislation such as Employment Standards, Human Rights, Privacy legislation, and Human Resources best practices.
Key Knowledge and Skill Expectations
-
Education in a relevant field such as Human Resources, Business, or Organizational Psychology; however equivalent education and experience will also be considered.

Minimum of three years of Human Resources experience.
-
CPHR certification or equivalent is also considered an asset.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, cloud or internet-based databases, and Human Resources Information Systems.

Excellent customer service and relationship building skills.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize competing demands.

Excellent verbal and written communication with an understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive language.

Encourage an open and strong team atmosphere, inviting input, providing support, sharing ownership and mentoring staff to develop through constructive, positive feedback.

Collaborative and respectful approach to working with diverse groups.

High degree of initiative, proficiency and efficiency working with time sensitive and confidential information.

Clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Intervention Record Check.
