We are currently seeking an experienced QA Supervisor to join our food manufacturing team in Mississauga. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused professional with a strong background in food safety, SQF, and HACCP to grow with a well-established company. This position starts as a temporary assignment with the opportunity to become permanent based on performance.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the QA Manager, the QA Supervisor will oversee daily quality assurance activities and help maintain food safety and quality programs while ensuring compliance with SQF, CFIA, FDA, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-operational, in-process, and post-operational inspections.
- Promote and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Perform process monitoring, weight control, and label verification.
- Conduct sensory evaluations of egg-containing products.
- Monitor raw materials, packaging, and ingredient storage.
- Verify metal detector performance and investigate rejected products.
- Maintain SQF, HACCP, Kosher, and Non-GMO documentation.
- Coordinate and support internal, customer, SQF, and regulatory audits.
- Manage approved supplier documentation and onboarding.
- Oversee product and ingredient hold procedures.
- Investigate customer complaints and product non-conformances.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Collect product samples for laboratory testing.
- Prepare QA reports and maintain accurate documentation.
- Verify calibration of QA equipment such as thermometers and scales.
- Deliver food safety and quality training to production staff.
- Participate in plant trials and first production runs.
- Perform additional QA-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of QA Supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in SQF or BRC certified facilities.
- HACCP knowledge and experience.
- Certified SQF Practitioner.
- PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) Certification.
- Strong knowledge of GMPs and food safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Assets
- Experience with Syspro ERP or similar ERP systems.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Performing repetitive tasks as required.
- Sitting for documentation and reporting.
- Flexibility to support production schedules, including occasional extended hours or weekends.
