What can I expect to do in this role?
The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander of Communications and Technology Services seeks a qualified person to provide specialized technical expertise, analysis, advice, support and recommendations for the design, development and implementation of technical solutions as well as operational and maintenance support of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) telephony and contact centre telecommunication environments.

How do I qualify?
Mandatory
Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation.

Valid Ontario driver's licence to facilitate regular travel throughout the Province

Ability to work on a regularly scheduled on-call basis (24/7 environment).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Job requires specific knowledge and industry standard certified training and experience for the multiple telecommunications technology platforms; expected to maintain product knowledge through study, training and certification for such platforms and stay current with communication industry trends and evolving technologies.

Knowledge and experience with installation of VoIP systems and infrastructure in both physical and virtual environments

Knowledge and experience in hosted IP and cloud based solutions

Advanced knowledge of WAN/LAN technologies and VoIP/SIP call routing technologies and protocols

Advanced knowledge of SIP trunking operation, design and implementation

Strong understanding of the OSI model and working knowledge in networking and data communications (including but not limited to TCP/IP, UDP, RTP, SMTP, SNMP, QoS, DNS, DHCP, TLS)

Experience configuring and troubleshooting switches, routers and firewalls

Strong working knowledge of security and encryption techniques

Experience using wireshark and other packet capture and analyzation software

Solid knowledge of SIP stack and TDM voice infrastructures

Experience in ACD contact centre solutions

Experience with voicemail, IVR, call recording, and wireless technologies

Advanced knowledge of both E911 and NG911 services, features and functionality

Knowledge and experience working with softphones and various SIP endpoints

Fundamental understanding and experience in VMware and Hyper-V

Knowledge and experience in telecommunications and data communication/network cabling systems including fiber optics

Knowledge and experience in Microsoft and Linux operating systems for servers and desktops;

Knowledge and experience using various software programs such as AutoCAD, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Visio.
