Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, this position researches, plans, writes and edits a variety of internal and external marketing and communications materials.
Roles and Responsibilities
Writes engaging marketing materials and communications for online platforms and print materials to educate and inform members about the value of the Plan and its benefits
Writes communication materials for HOOPP's employers that educate and inform regarding the administration of the Plan including plan changes, news updates (online, email), employer presentations, employer meeting materials, etc.
Employs proven interviewing techniques to generating content that is informative, engaging and educational
Participates in the content development of communications materials for external stakeholders to encourage readers to support the defined benefit pension model
Helps create content for mySite, the organization's intranet, in addition to support for internal presentations/corporate events
Ensures content is accurate, aligned with the Writing Style Guide and obtains appropriate approvals
Provides other communications services as assigned
Contributes to departmental and organization-wide objectives and goals
University or College degree in journalism or English, or equivalent experience in a corresponding role
2-4 years' public relations, journalism and/or marketing communications experience
Experience writing in a variety of tones and voices
Comfortable with all facets of writing
Experience in generating creative marketing communications materials that demonstrate value
Strong technical writing skills
Background in defined benefit pension communications or financial/ investment sector communications would be an asset
Collaborative, professional, accountable, trustworthy
Creative, with the ability to communicate complex content in an easy-to-understand way
Superior interpersonal skills and diplomacy
Self-directed yet effective team player
Proven experience interviewing external and internal stakeholders
Familiar with the principles of writing for online as well as print content
Sound judgment and discretion
Ability to write effectively for a variety of audiences, media and purposes
Superior proof-reading skills
Excellent editorial, organizational, and communications planning skills
Good analytical skills and an eye for detail
Skilled with standard MSOffice applications
Computer skills - MS office, Experience working with content management software is a strong asset
Proficiency in French is an asset but not required
