Weekend Behavioural Support Worker (Oshawa – Summer Position)
We are hiring a Weekend Behavioural Support Worker to provide in-home and community-based support for two children with autism and complex behavioural needs in Oshawa.
This role is ideal for someone who is calm, reliable, and confident supporting children who require structured, engaging, and consistent care in both home and community settings.
Position Details
- Location: Oshawa, ON
- Schedule: Weekends (Saturday/Sunday availability required)
- Start Date: Weekend of July 10, 2026
- ENd Date: September 5, 2026
- Shift Length: Minimum 4–5 hour blocks per visit
- Start/End times: To be confirmed with worker based on scheduling
Duties Include
- Providing shared supervision and behavioural support for two children
- Supporting community-based activities such as:
- Parks and playground visits
- Walks and outdoor engagement
- Chalk activities and creative play
- Bubble play and sensory-based activities
- Maintaining structure, safety, and predictable routines
- Supporting emotional regulation and transitions between activities
- Documenting visit summaries via shared Google Form
Behavioural Support Approach

- Supporting both children equally in shared environments
- Skill-building techniques
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children with autism and behavioural needs
- Ability to remain calm in high-energy or escalated situations
- Comfortable working in home and community environments
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent availability on weekends
- Ability to work weekends consistently
- Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
- CPR and First Aid (Standard or Emergency Level)
Preferred (strongly recommended for this role)
- Developmental Services Worker (DSW) diploma
- Behavioural Science Technician / Behavioural Intervention training
- Child and Youth Care Worker (CYCW / CYW) diploma or degree
- Education Assistant (EA)
- Experience in autism support or behavioural intervention settings
- Experience with community-based support (not just classroom or facility-based)
- Experience in developmental disability support, behavioural support, or child and youth care strongly preferred
Compensation
- $26 – $30 per hour, depending on experience and suitability for behavioural support work paid for all active support time (shared supervision model)
