The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Food Services Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of our dining services operation. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines culinary excellence, team leadership, resident engagement, and operational oversight.
You will have the opportunity to shape the dining experience for our residents, lead a dedicated team, and influence one of the most important aspects of community life. Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of dining services operations
- Ensure compliance with all legislative, health, safety, and food service requirements
- Oversee menu execution, food quality, presentation, and resident satisfaction
- Assist with cooking and kitchen operations when required
- Manage food purchasing, inventory control, and budget performance
- Recruit, schedule, coach, develop, and lead dining services team members
- Conduct performance reviews and support employee development
- Investigate and resolve resident and employee concerns
- Collaborate with the Manager of Care regarding resident nutritional needs
- Build strong relationships with residents and families through regular engagement
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment
- Participate in community events and special dining experiences
Qualifications
- Red Seal Certification required
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive culinary leadership experience
- Retirement living, hospitality, healthcare, or senior living experience considered an asset
- Strong scratch cooking and food production experience
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Experience managing labour and operating budgets
- Strong understanding of food safety and regulatory compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and electronic management systems
- Flexible to support occasional evening and weekend events
