What you’ll do
Provide clerical assistance to Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant physicians, senior hematologists, fellows and residents.
Schedules patients for laboratory tests, medical examinations and consultations. Relays information to patients regarding preparation for laboratory tests and examinations.
Answer telephone, screens calls, relays messages. Maintain calendar, schedule appointments and meetings.
Using word processing system, formats and types a variety of documents from hand-written draft or dictating equipment to meet specified deadlines; documents include: reports, correspondence, protocols, manuscripts, data for slide preparation, project reports and grant applications.
Perform medical transcription through methods such as transcribing clinical reports including consultations, conference reports, follow-up reports, admission-discharge summaries and pathology reports for inclusion in patient’s records, forwarding reports to author for review and signature and distributing reports.
What you bring
Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in medical transcription and
One year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Ability to keyboard at 60 w.p.m.
