Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and filing of various immigration applications, including work permits, permanent residency, citizenship and Court Process
- Conduct legal research and stay up-to-date with changes in immigration laws and regulations.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and documents.
- Maintain organized and accurate client files, both electronically and physically.
- Draft correspondence, legal documents, and supporting materials.
- Liaise with government agencies, clients, and other stakeholders as required.
- Monitor case progress and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding matters.
- Prepare and organize documents for court or tribunal proceedings, including briefs, pleadings, and evidence packages.
- Assist in the preparation of motions, appeals, and other legal documents for submission to immigration courts or administrative bodies.
- Coordinate with external counsel and other professionals as needed for cases involving litigation or appeals.
- Attend court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings to provide support to attorneys (if applicable).
- Provide administrative support to the legal team as needed, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
Requirements:
Education and Certification:
- A diploma or certificate in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- RCIC (Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant) or IRB (Immigration and Refugee Board) license is preferred.
- Paralegal certification or equivalent legal education is an asset.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Immigration Paralegal or in a similar legal role.
- Experience in preparing and filing various immigration applications and documentation.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Canadian immigration laws, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Other:
- Fluency in Farsi languages is an asset.
- Strong ethical standards and professionalism in handling confidential information.
