Over see the planning, delivery, and reporting of an 8 - week summer program serving approximately 20 indigenous children ages 6 - 12. Supervise two Camp Leaders and serve as the primary contact between the program, Sq'ewlets Band Office, and United Way BC.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead daily programming: land-based learning, cultural teachings, arts, storytelling, and physical activity
- Supervise and support two Program Workers
- Coordinate three family engagement events (welcome gathering, mid-summer shared meal, end-of-program celebration)
- Support meaningful youth leadership and helper opportunities for older participants
- Maintain attendance records and conduct ongoing program reflection and participant
- Host mid-program UWBC site visit; submit evaluation results and final report by September 11, 2026
- Manage program budget and uphold the "School's Out Summer" brand in all marketing and storytelling
Requirements :
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous children and youth in a program, recreation, or education setting
- Knowledge or and respect for Sq'ewlets or broader Sto':lo / Coast Salish culture, values, and community
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to supervise staff and work as part a small team
- Valid First Aid/ CPR certification 9 or willingness to obtain before program start)
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector screening
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Preferred but not necessary:
- Post education in Indigenous Studies, Child & Youth Care, Recreation, Education or related field
- Experience with grant-funded program delivery and reporting
- Fluency in Halq'emeylem or another Sto':lo language is an asset
- Physical ability to participate on and supervise active and outdoor programming with children
