Financial Controller

Summit is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our leadership team at our Acheson Head Office. Reporting directly to the President, you'll oversee the full-cycle accounting operations for our growing organization while leading and mentoring a dedicated accounting team.

What You'll Do
As our Financial Controller, you will:
- Lead the full-cycle accounting function for multiple operating branches
- Prepare monthly financial statements,and trial balances
- Manage year-end financial reporting and coordinate the annual audit
- Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process
- Ensure compliance with all statutory reporting and remittances
- Oversee daily bank reconciliations and cash reporting
- Manage payroll and employee benefits administration
- Provide financial analysis and ad hoc reporting to support business decisions
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three accounting professionals
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiencies, and internal controls
What You Bring
We're looking for a confident leader who combines technical accounting expertise with a collaborative leadership style.
Qualifications include:
- CPA designation (preferred)
- 3–5 years of accounting experience in a multi-branch environment
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and GAAP
- Experience preparing annual budgets and financial reporting
- Payroll and benefits administration experience
- Previous experience leading or supervising a small accounting team
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Transportation or dealership industry experience is considered an asset
