Position Type: Full-Time Temporary
Duration: Approximately 1.5 months to 2 months
We are seeking a full-time Pharmacy Assistant for a temporary position of approximately 1.5 months. There may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to transition into a permanent position at another location in the future, based on business needs and performance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists with prescription processing, data entry, and preparation of medications.
- Receive, enter, and process prescription orders accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare prescription labels and package medications according to pharmacy procedures.
- Assist with counting, measuring, compounding, and dispensing medications under the direction of a pharmacist or regulated pharmacy professional.
- Receive, unpack, check, and organize pharmaceutical inventory and supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with stock replenishment and ordering.
- Assist with third-party insurance billing and prescription claims.
- Process prescription payments and operate the pharmacy point-of-sale system.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to customer inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provide excellent customer service and direct clinical or medication-related questions to the pharmacist.
- Maintain patient profiles and ensure information is entered accurately and confidentially.
- Assist with prescription transfers, refill requests, and other routine pharmacy administrative tasks as permitted.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the pharmacy work area.
- Follow pharmacy policies, procedures, privacy requirements, and applicable Alberta legislation.
- Assist with filing, documentation, record keeping, and other administrative duties.
- Monitor inventory for expired, damaged, or recalled products and follow appropriate procedures.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned.
Work experience, Educations and Skills:
- Successfully completed pharmacy assistant diploma program from any Canadian accredited college or have at least 6 months working experience in community pharmacy settings
- Must be familiar with pharmacy software: Nexyssys or PharmaClick Rx or Propel Rx
- Must have good communication skills and must be able to provide excellent customer service experience to clients
Work Remotely
Pay: $16.00-$20.00 per hour
