A position has become available for a Shipper/Receiver based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. ***Only candidates residing in British Columbia will be considered for the position***
Position Overview:
The shipper/receiver is responsible for moving goods around the warehouse and yard. As well as accepting incoming orders, processing, and packing orders, counting inventory, and ensuring orders are shipped in a timely manner. While this role acts as a warehouse personnel, there are also administrative duties involved.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklift to move material through facility using the appropriate safety measures.
- Interact with dispatchers and customer service representatives to ensure accuracy of shipping and receiving.
- Communicate with supervisors and other team members to efficiently handle material and provide awareness of potential problems or concerns.
- Ensure all shipping documents are correct and properly signed.
- Assist in completing inventory audits.
- Clean up and dispose of scrap bracing, cardboard, strapping and place in designated containers/areas.
- Use tools such as hammers and crowbars to remove strapping, open crates, and strap cars.
- Ensure all drivers have appropriate PPE before loading or unloading.
- General maintenance and housekeeping of warehouse and yard to keep organized and clean.
- Promote a safe working environment.
- Conduct vehicle and cargo inspections on equipment coming into yard.
- Move product manually if required, no lifting over 50 pounds.
- Safety inspections of facility.
- Order entries into database.
- Daily cycle counts to ensure min/max levels are maintained.
- Conduct daily preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
- Plan workflow in yard to meet customer delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with other departments and allocate required resources.
- Monitor receiving and grading of empty reels.
- Complete shipping and receiving documents.
- Monitor product coming into and leaving yard for damage and load securement.
- Inventory management of various customers product at terminal and warehouse utilizing computer IMS with hand-held systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations by team members, Tenold employees and operators, outside carriers and sub-contractors.
- Participate in safety programs and planning to achieve initiatives.
- Conduct or participate in incident investigations.
- Promote safety, report hazardous conditions, and develop controls as needed.
- Administrative duties.

Requirements:
- 1-5 years previous counterbalance/stand-up reach forklift experience with valid certification.
- General knowledge of safety standards and load securement for the transportation industry
- Knowledge of axel weight restrictions for loading would be an asset
- Good computer knowledge
- Familiarity with scanning equipment and inventory control systems
- Excellent communication skills in written and verbal English
- Able to work independently, make judgment calls and resolve problems
- Comfortable working under pressure to meet specific deadlines
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $28.85-$33.65 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
