Job summary:
Youth and/or Child Worker (AYCW) provides support to children and youth with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. AYCW is to advocate for the youth by acting in the best interest of the individual and amplifying their voices, rights, and education.
Position:
The Adult, Youth, and/or Child Worker assists children and youth in developing life skills, social skills, and/or accessing community resources. They provide individual care and guidance tailored to the needs of individuals with mental health issues, behavioral challenges, developmental disabilities, or addictions. The role includes providing stabilization through predictable structures, clear expectations, and positive behavior support.
Successful candidates must be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team context and demonstrate skills in basic counseling, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication.
This is a unionized position with the BCGEU grid 11. The pay range we are offering is $29.22 - $33.54 with benefit eligibility and MPP for any permanent position of 20+ hours. Successful applicants will receive paid training in MANDT, CORE and Prudent Parenting.
Education and Qualifications:
- A minimum 2-year relevant diploma, or equivalent of education/experience working with children and youth with behavioural and other needs.
- Specific training in behavioural modification, children under 12 years of age with support needs, attachment-based parenting, and relationship-based interventions (Trauma-informed practice).
- Class 5 driver’s license ( personal vehicle with business insurance and $3M liability, if required for the location).
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Provincial Criminal Record Check for Children and Vulnerable Adults (Clearance).
- MCFD Criminal Record Check (Youth).
