COVID-19 Nurse Supervisor
Clinical Prevention Services, BC Centre for Disease Control, $42.25 to $51.78 per hour
What you’ll do
Assist the Operations Leader in the coordination of staffing/scheduling activities by establishing work priorities that ensure clients are seen in a timely and efficient manner; provide input into staff evaluations based on agreed goals, objectives and performance standards; participate in identifying and recommending training/development courses based on regular assessments of staff skill levels; participate in the selection process for recruitment of clinic nurses and coordination of clinical skills orientation of new employees; participate in the planning, coordination, evaluation and reporting of activities; acts as a clinical resource and mentor for nurses; and share in the responsibility with the Senior Practice Lead for conducting regular staff meetings.
Monitor client flow, manage client complaints and concerns, complete incident reporting and follow up, and ensure adequate and efficient support services.
Act as an information resource to public and healthcare providers by fielding enquiries related to the communicable disease area, interpreting recommended testing and treatment guidelines to healthcare professionals, providing consultation support to community health nurses, and consulting with clients and healthcare professionals regarding specific concerns related to the designated communicable disease.
Critically evaluate clinical and operational workflows when presented with changing communicable disease recommendations or organizational mandates. Identify gaps in program’s ability to deliver service and care, escalate or disseminate information as appropriate.
Provide screening, diagnostic, or prophylactic services to clients in an effort to prevent and control infection and disease. Maintain client records, follow up with test results, interview clients, take relevant history, screen and taking specimens necessary for diagnostic confirmation; administer appropriate treatment, counsel regarding medications, arranges follow-up, with other health professionals, locates resources for clients as indicated; and make on-the-spot health evaluations and determining when to seek physician advice.
What you bring
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM)
Three (3) years recent related nursing experience including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity with direct reports, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Travel outside of existing geographic area may be required, and will be compensated in accordance with applicable collective agreement language.
You will have:
Comprehensive knowledge of the BCCNM standards for RN nursing practice.
Comprehensive knowledge in public health programs, and possessing a broad knowledge of BC’s health care system.
Extensive and up to date knowledge of the BCCDC.
Independent judgment and to work as part of a committee, work group, and team.
Demonstrated ability to model and foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful team working environment.
Clinical and administrative supervision and consultation skills.
