QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Certificate of Competence in the Province of Ontario.
Must have current or recent clinical experience of at least two years in the Emergency, I.C.U. or step down units. Preference will be given to candidates with current Emergency nursing experience.
Required triage experience.
ACLS and PALS preferred.
Consideration will be given to candidates with, or enrolled in, post graduate courses in emergency nursing, I.V. therapy, clinical assessment or other related educational preparation i.e. 5-level triage.
Demonstrated clinical assessment for care of admitted patients and those on CDTU protocols.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in emergency situations.
Demonstrated clinical assessment and patient/family teaching skills.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated skill and knowledge of I.V. Therapy and venipuncture is required.
Delegated Controlled Acts certification to be successfully completed within six months of employment date and to be recertified annually.
Demonstrated effective communication skills.
Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability.
