The Content Writer is responsible for writing various forms of content, from web copy and blog posts to proposals and ad copy. The Content Writer must work across a range of media and formats, interpreting account briefs to compose advertorial and informational content. The Content Writer works in close partnership with the Content Manager, the Director of Strategy, Strategists, Client Marketing Advisors, Graphic Designers, Web Developers, and the Creative Director.

Accountabilities

Grow Businesses Through Persuasive Content

  • Produces original, clear and credible ideas/messages/scripts for many mediums and channels, including blogs, web copy, and proposals
  • Researches industry-related topics (including online sources, interviews and studies)
  • Aids the Content Manager in the development of content strategies
  • Optimizes content for search engines and lead generation, infusing SEO throughout all copy
  • Conducts analytical projects to improve content strategies/tactics
  • Grows subscriber base by providing regular, helpful content that’s in-tune with followers’ needs
  • Writes proposals and other technical content for a multitude of industries
  • Submits work for editing and approval
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail in all work

Increases Efficiencies in the Content Department and William Joseph

  • Interprets account briefs
  • Brainstorms visual and copy ideas with other members of the creative team, updating and amending messaging according to feedback
  • Has and follows a provided a consistent process to proofread, edit, fact-check, as well as gathers and incorporates feedback
  • Uploads content to web through various content management systems
  • Writes blogs on an ongoing basis to support current initiatives and attract site visitors through search, social and email subscribers
  • Responsible, along with the Content Manager, for checking that all content being advertised is truthful and complies with codes of advertising practice

Qualifications

  • Minimum level of education: Undergraduate degree in marketing or communications from a business school, or four-year degree program in communications or public relations
  • 4 years of experience in a writing role
  • Agency experience considered a strong asset
  • Experience in a business-to-business (B2B) environment is valued
  • Computer literate in Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, Excel)
