Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be involved in tax compliance, compilation engagements, bookkeeping, and client support while working closely with senior managers and the partners.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Services
- Prepare individual, corporate, trust information, payroll and T5 returns
- Assist the managers with tax planning and compliance matters
- Identify and present tax planning opportunities to managers or partners, contributing to strategic client discussions
- Conduct tax research and execute special projects using various professional resources
- Communicate with tax authorities regarding client matters when required
Financial Reporting, Bookkeeping & Support
- Prepare compilation engagements
- Maintain client bookkeeping records
- Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable/payable, or other general ledger accounts
- Prepare period-end closing and provide ongoing accounting support to clients
- Assist clients with accounting software when required
Client Management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Respond to client inquiries in a timely, professional manner
- Coordinate seamlessly with senior managers and partner regarding engagement progress, deliverables, and deadlines
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of public accounting experience preparing tax returns, compiling financial statements, and bookkeeping
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Caseware + Caseview, QuickBooks Online, Sage 50, Taxprep and/or TaxCycle
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian tax regulations

Other Considerations
- Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check is a requirement for this role
- Must be legally qualified to work in Canada
