To stem the tide of this epidemic, Diabetes Canada is raising its sights to deliver impact at a population level by advocating for healthy public policy, driving exceptional diabetes care, promoting research towards a cure, and enhancing our digital delivery consistent with the needs of those we serve today and the desires of our donors.

About the Coordinator, Community Engagement Role (6-month contract)

The Coordinator, Community Engagement is responsible for fundraising through the coordination, execution and delivery of events and programs at the local level, ensuring that these meet or exceed revenue targets. This includes national campaigns, event sponsorships, major gift solicitation, third party-initiated campaigns and local community-based events. This contract opportunity reports to the Regional Director or the Manager, Community Engagement and is based in our Winnipeg office.

Some highlights of the role include:
Fundraising/Revenue Generation:
Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals by coordinating and executing various fundraising events and programs in alignment with regional and national plans
Leverage and grow partnership opportunities through cold calling, networking, etc.
Identify and maximize event revenue generation opportunities through creative avenues such as sponsorship, ticket sales, silent auctions to meet or exceed fundraising goals
Targeted sponsorship goals between $5,000-$10,000

Corporate/Community Engagement and Networking:
Solicit, leverage and engage volunteers to support, initiate and facilitate events
Source and cultivate strategic partnerships with corporate businesses
Engage, network and support third-party events through sharing of resources, tools and best practices
Engage and steward relationships with service clubs including Lions

Event Management:
Collaborate with the regional and national teams to identify fundraising activities
Develop implementation plans to maximize outcomes and execute at the local level
Evaluate return on investment and implement improvements to achieve higher impact and return at future events
Anticipate and plan for future events, trends, problems and opportunities
Explore existing community initiatives as potential opportunities
About You

As the successful candidate for the role, you are/have:
Post-secondary education, preferably in business, project management, fundraising, and/or marketing, or other relevant programs
Work experience in non-profit, fundraising, sales, event coordination, and marketing
People and volunteer management experience an asset
Strong communication skills
Achievement-oriented goal-setter
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Flexible and responsive
Collaborative relationship-builder
Computer proficiency, preferably including experience with social media
