About us:
Brush Floss Dentistry for Children is a fast-paced paediatric dental clinic located in Gasoline Alley, Red Deer County, AB. A privately owned office, centred on providing dental work in a safe and caring environment. We are hiring one Registered Nurse for a Charge Nurse position for perio-operative pediatric dentistry at a non-hospital surgical facility.
Responsibilities
- Accurately assess, documents, and maintains complete patient records in accordance with applicable legislation, professional standards, and facility policies.
- Provide perioperative nursing care, including pre-operative assessment, intraoperative support, and post-anesthesia recovery care within the RN scope of practice, including patient education and follow-up care as required.
- Assess, stabilize, monitor, and maintain patients throughout the recovery period until discharge criteria have been met in accordance with the standards established by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and clinic policy.
- Administer medications and maintain accurate medication and controlled drug documentation and logs, including cosigning wastage and drug counts and reporting discrepancies.
- Educate parent/guardian with discharge instructions and ensure understanding prior to discharge.
- Assist with the inspection, stocking, rotation, and maintenance of emergency equipment, anesthesia equipment, medications, and clinical supplies.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of clinical supplies.
- Participate in emergency response, mock drills, quality improvement activities, continuing education, and mandatory competency training.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards and all clinic policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively to lead nurses on surgical days, prioritizing patient safety
Position Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current unrestricted registration and practice permit with applicable regulatory college
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; ACLS and PALS can be obtained after being hired.
- Minimum 4 years perioperative, pediatric, post-anesthesia care, or critical care experience is required for the charge nurse position.

Conditions of Employment:
- Must have all immunizations up to date.
- Maintain all required immunizations in accordance with clinic policy.
- Provide proof of BLS, ACLS, PALS certification.
- Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and competencies as a condition of continued employment.
- Successfully complete orientation, mandatory education, competency validation, and annual training requirements.
- Comply with all clinic policies, Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) standards, Occupational Health and Safety requirements, and applicable professional standards.
Pay: From $45.00 per hour
