Reporting to the Manager of 2B Surgery Mississauga Hospital Site, this person will be responsible for the coordination of schedules and facilitation of coverage for the 2B Surgery Units. They will work with the Patient Care Manager/designate to collaboratively ensure coverage for the 2B Units across the Mississauga Hospital to optimize day to day operational needs.
Develop ongoing schedules for the 2B Units every 6 weeks or as operational needs require
Prioritize operational needs of the 2B Units during vacation and holiday periods
Facilitate appropriate coverage for the 2B Units during peak times and staff shortages due to vacancies or sick calls
Respond to either Patient Care Managers or designate to ascertain scheduling needs
Enter staff payroll, double check data entries, and complete payroll adjustments as required
Coordinate vacation requests for the 2B Units which will include nursing staff, allied health and clerical staff as well as any other staff as needed
Implement and maintain a database of staff availability and contact information
Maintain effective communication with all areas of the surgery program regarding status of staffing requests
Communicate with the Managers and supervisors regarding overall staffing situations
Must be able to work in a professional, cooperative and effective manner with all fellow staff and clients
Post-secondary Medical Administration Diploma preferred
Working knowledge of the ONA and CUPE collective agreements an asset
Previous experience with unit scheduling an asset
Strong proficiency with MS office applications, including Excel preferred
Proficiency with Meditech and scheduling module is preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Superior organizational and time management skills
Strong critical thinking skills to appropriately manage and prioritize scheduling demands
Strong critical thinking skills to find creative solutions to scheduling challenges
Previous experience in developing, modifying, and maintaining schedules in acute care setting preferred
Previous experience in payroll entry an asset
Demonstrated ability to work independently under stressful conditions
Excellent customer service skills and commitment to Trillium Health Partners values
Satisfactory performance and attendance required
