Prime is currently searching for a Financial Controller to join our Finance and Administration team. We're looking for a team player with a strong inclination towards developing co-operative solutions, someone who is a highly organized self-starter that thrives in a goal-oriented business culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for Prime Engineering’s financial systems, control environment, and financial and performance reporting in compliance with Canadian GAAP, IFRS, and company policies
  • Coordination, preparation, and review of weekly and monthly reports, cost reports, external financial statements, performance metrics and analysis of variances
  • In coordination with the administrative team, preparation or management of all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, and inventory accounting
  • Preparation and / or review of month end journal entries in the general ledger as required
  • Ensure all payroll functions are accurate and completed in a timely manner; this may include oversight, review, and / or hands-on transactional functions including preparation and processing of payments and records of employment
  • Ensure all accounts payable are accurate, applicable discounts are applied, and are paid in a timely manner; this may include oversight, review, and/or hands-on transactional functions
  • Working with the administrative team, ensure accounts receivable are tracked, reported and collected promptly
  • Complete bank reconciliations on a regular schedule, resolving all discrepancies
  • Coordinate with Prime Engineering’s management team to prepare the annual budget and monthly forecasts
  • Development of accounting, costing, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory policies and procedures
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Monitoring of debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Oversight of government reporting and filing requirements and tax filings
  • Maintain and enhance strong job-based costing framework and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Strong communications with General Manager, Director of Operations, and management team regarding financial performance, KPIs, financial policies, and controls
  • Lead the development and implementation of new initiatives to improve the accounting and reporting processes
  • Ensure the safety of all employees and contractors working in the office
  • Additional duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or acceptable equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a production environment
  • Previous experience leading systems implementation projects is considered a strong asset
