Job Summary:
As an Occupation Therapist (OT) at iScope, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, developing, and implementing customized treatment programs for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts initial patient evaluations to determine the patient's functional abilities, limitations, and goals.
- Responsible for developing a customized treatment plan that includes specific goals and interventions to help patients achieve their desired level of functioning.
- Provides therapy sessions to patients, which may include exercises, activities, and modifications to the patient's environment to improve their ability to perform daily tasks.
- Maintains documentation regarding patient progress, this includes improvements, setbacks, and changes to treatment plans, to ensure that treatment remains effective and appropriate.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and physical therapists, to ensure that patients receive comprehensive care.
- Provides education to patients and their families on how to manage their condition, maximize their independence, and prevent future injury or disability.
- Manages a caseload of patients, ensuring that they receive the appropriate level of care and attention.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of patient treatment and progress, as well as other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's Degree or master’s degree in occupational therapy and/or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC
- Experience in working with individuals who have a brain injury, orthopedic injury and/or chronic pain.
Competencies, Skill, and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge and competency in maintaining confidentiality of client information according to FIPPA and PHIPA legislation.
- Respond to new client inquiries in a timely manner and provide an overall excellent level of customer service.
- Strong knowledge of community resources.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to clients in ways that build confidence and trust.
- Able to work in a highly diverse community with individuals from varied backgrounds and a variety of age groups, presenting with a range of difficulties and personal issues.
- Good judgment, sensitivity, flexibility, discretion and resourcefulness.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and senior administrators about issues facing individuals in crisis and make recommendations.
