Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and dedicated Automotive Apprentice to join our team. This position you will work under the guidance of experienced technicians, learning essential skills and techniques necessary for a successful career in automotive service and repair. You will report to Lead Technician and Supervisor.
This position is responsible for carrying out the directions given to perform work under the Provincial Apprenticeship Training Program including a wide range of automotive service and mechanical repair duties. Hours worked and applied to work are credited toward full journeyman certification.
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and performs work as outlined on repair orders under the supervision of a Licensed Technician with efficiency and accuracy.
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
- Discuss any problems related to the repair with their supervising Technician or Service Manager.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
- Learn to read and interpret automotive schematics to diagnose issues accurately.
- Support senior technicians in diagnosing complex mechanical problems and developing effective solutions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored after use.
- Engage with customers in a professional manner, providing excellent customer service throughout the repair process.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance your knowledge of automotive systems and repair techniques.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Must be enrolled in an accredited provincial program with the goal to earn full certification as an automotive repair technician (310S)
- Level 2 or higher accreditation is a plus
- Mechanical aptitude and quality orientated
- Ability to work cohesively with employees and managers as part of a team
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, schematics, and diagnostic software
- Experience with welding and fabrication techniques is a plus
- Valid driver’s license
