The London Cross Cultural Learner Centre (CCLC) is a London, Ontario-based non-profit organization that provides settlement services to newcomers to Canada. We are currently seeking a full-time Childminding Assistant to support the delivery of childminding services within our Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP).
The Resettlement Assistance Program provides immediate and essential settlement services to Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs) upon arrival in London, Ontario. Services include temporary accommodation, income assistance, housing support, orientation, and referrals to settlement and government programs that support successful integration into the community.
Reporting to the Childminding Supervisor, the Childminding Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of childminding services for children aged 2–12 whose parents or caregivers are accessing services through CCLC, including newcomers participating in the Resettlement Assistance Program. The Childminding Assistant helps create a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment that supports children's well-being and engagement while ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and program requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Childminding Program Delivery & Supervision

Implement childminding activities that support children’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development through play-based learning.

Provide active supervision of children at all times, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Maintain a welcoming and culturally responsive childminding space for children and their families.

Support the development and delivery of age-appropriate and culturally relevant activities, including games, storytelling, and creative play.

Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding children’s participation, needs, and well-being.

Ensure program equipment, materials, and spaces are clean, organized, and maintained in accordance with health and safety standards.

Follow all applicable childcare regulations, organizational policies, and safety procedures.

Participate in program planning discussions and contribute to continuous improvement of childminding activities.
Program Administration & Compliance

Maintain accurate documentation, including attendance records, incident reports, and required program forms.

Operate in accordance with the policies, procedures, and protocols of the organization, the program, and partner organizations.

Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive client and program information.

Support coordination with internal programs to ensure smooth service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Education & Experience

Registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).

Current CPR and First Aid Certification appropriate to the age group.

Up-to-date immunizations and recent TB test (completed within the previous six months).

Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children. Relevant experience may include practicum or placements completed as part of a required Early Childhood Education (ECE) designation.
Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of child development principles and early learning practices, with the ability to apply them in a childminding environment.

Knowledge of childcare regulations, health and safety standards, and supervisory requirements.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple children and activities.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, families, and staff.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic service environment.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) for communication and documentation.
