Fulfillment and Logistics Lead Hand (Afternoon Shift)

This position will be part of our Printing Sector and In-Store Marketing group. The Printing Sector has over 3,500 employees and 13 state-of-the-art print plants.
About this opportunity
Reporting to the Fulfillment and Logistics Supervisor, the Lead Hand must have at least intermediate skills and product knowledge in the classifications they are leading. Responsibilities shall include the leading the warehouse / receiving employees, maintaining product quality, material requisitioning, safety, and will collaborate on replenishment schedules. The company expects Lead Hands will be expected to lead by example by adhering to and enforcing company policies and procedures. This position is located in Richmond Hill, ON and will be on the afternoon shift.
What you will do
Lead, plan, organize, and coordinate the picking and receiving of the warehouse team to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with the organizational requirements and in a timely fashion;
Monitor the performance of warehouse employees and participate in performance review preparations;
Instruct, direct, oversee and assist in the day-to-day operations of the warehouse floor;
Maintain product quality and identify any potential defects and non-conformances;
Perform weekly / monthly safety talks;
Operate various types of machinery as required;
Assist with the preparation, planning and coordination of physical / cycle counting;
Mentoring and acting as a role model for warehouse team while working alongside the team on the floor;
Maintain time and attendance system;
Identify and make recommendations regarding skills requirements and their teams requirements, and participate in organizing associated training;
Maintain good housekeeping practices in warehouse using the 5s principles, including keepin it safe, clean and legally compliant;
Actively participate, and support, Continuous Improvement initiatives;
Participate in all safety training deemed mandatory by TC for the safe performance of the job;
Location, shift, duties and responsibilities may be amended from time to time in order to support efficient company operations;
Available for overtime in order to meet business needs as required;
Work in compliance with TC Health & Safety Rules and Safe Operating Procedures, the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario, the Workplace Safety Insurance Act and all other applicable legislated environmental, health & safety regulations;
Work as part of a team and participate in Continuous Process Improvement efforts;
Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.
What you have to offer
High School Diploma or GED equivalent, with previous relevant experience;
Strong capability to work with management on all levels within the organization and harmoniously within a team environment;
Exceptional attention to detail and good command of the English language (read, write, speak) with respect to:
understanding and following all verbal and written instructions;
completing paperwork and requisitioning of materials accurately and efficiently;
complying with safety procedures and processes;
Effective communication skills with all level of employees and internal / external customers;
Strong skills in problem identification and solution-oriented problem solving;
Excellent attention to detail with critical eye for identifying defects or non-conformances;
Physical ability to lift minimum 45 lbs unassisted;
Well organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced warehouse environment
Proactive and positive approach in the workplace;
Ability to operate various types of machinery. Must hold a valid operation certificate in good standing, where operation of equipment requires certification, i.e. Forklift, Electric Rider Pallet Truck.
