Position Summary

The Social Content Writer will work with the social content creator, project manager and creative teams to create effective and compelling content that brings brand messaging to life across multiple media channels.

The Social Content Writer is passionate and optimistic about doing great things but is grounded and experienced enough to push through challenges. He/She will bring recommendations for creative and process to the teams to further develop this new role within the greater team.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Ideate, pitch and contribute ideas and concepts
  • Research, develop and complete video scripts and social media content which supports the completed video
  • Research, develop and curate social media content which supports the client’s monthly and seasonal creative themes across all social media platforms
  • Embrace and stringently apply the client’s SEO keyword strategy
  • Collaborate with team members, accepting feedback to understand the client’s needs and finding creative solutions to meet those needs
  • Stay up-to-date (and ahead!) on new social media trends and best practices; monitor competitors and other social media leaders to see how they are creating unique, relevant content for their audiences
  • Assist in any other relevant tasks related to video content as the team needs require
  • Report status to VP, Managing Director Operations
  • Adherence to company processes including Health &Safety
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education

  • University or college degree in English
Key Hard Skills

  • Computer proficiency with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Lightroom)
Job Knowledge and Experience

  • Portfolio that demonstrates a range of experience in social media content with a focus on video and visual problem-solving, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, results-driven environment
  • Proven experience working with social networks and platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and content delivery on these platforms
  • Knowledge of digital marketing, including SEO
  • Experience with retail clients an asset
