5 reasons why volunteering with GIRL GUIDES will transform your life …
1. you’ll share your skills and talents
We all have something to share with girls exploring their futures and developing their leadership potential, whether it’s a personal pastime, passionate interest or career experience. Think about your skills and talents. Maybe you love to craft or love to code or enjoy camping; the variety of opportunities in Girl Guides is endless when women like you share their skills and talents.
2. you’ll make a difference in the lives of girls
Being a girl isn’t easy – but it gets easier when girls can look up to a strong female leader. In today’s society, girls are constantly bombarded with messages defining the ideal girl. However, as adults we know that everything we see in the media isn’t always true. Girls need role models who can help them to navigate issues such as body image and bullying and build their self-esteem. Girl Guides provides a welcoming environment where girls can open up about the issues they face – and you can be that real-life role model for our girls.
3. you’ll get access to opportunities for personal growth
You probably know that Girl Guides provides amazing opportunities for girls, but did you know about the many we offer our adult volunteers as well? As a volunteer with Girl Guides, you can develop skills that are highly valued in the workplace, such as communications, event planning, program delivery and more. Depending on your interests, you may also benefit from mentoring, training, international travel and post-secondary scholarship opportunities.
4. you’ll join the world’s largest sisterhood for girls & women
Girl Guides of Canada is a member organization of World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), the largest voluntary movement dedicated to girls and young women in the world, representing 10 million girls and young women from 146 countries. As a Girl Guides volunteer, you’ll join our team and have the chance to develop lifelong friendships with other women of similar interests, in your community and worldwide.
5. because everyone needs a bit more fun
Who doesn’t need a bit more fun in their life? Girl Guides offers girls and women a place to laugh, have fun with new and old friends and participate in new adventures.
