The Learning Specialist role is an entry level position into the Learning and Performance team. The Learning Specialist works collaboratively and under the guidance of department facilitators, consultants and clients to design, deliver, maintain and evaluate training programs or modules.

The Learning Specialist is responsible for the instructional design, delivery, evaluation, and maintenance of various learning and performance programs including orientation, continuous learning, compliance, and products and services for our operations team.

Tasks and responsibilities

Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Deliver new hire training for the Care Access Centre;
  • Support continuous learning for the Care Access Centre (including design and delivery);
  • Maintain and update training material for the Care Access Centre and other stakeholders, as needed;
  • Provide support for other projects, as needed.
  • Coordinate administrative functions related to successful design and deliver of training
  • Support administrative tasks to manage internal Learning Management System (LMS) and training tools
Success in the Learning Specialist role will require the following core qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in adult education, learning & development and/or related field or proven track record of coaching and initiatives related to learning and development;
  • Bilingual (Fr/En) is required;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and French, including superior presentation and facilitation skills;
  • Ability to adapt to constantly changing business needs and requirements;
  • Ability to deliver quality material within tight deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonnal skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of the suite of Microsoft Office applications;
  • Excellent understanding of technology and comfortable learning new platforms;
  • Experience with designing and developing training curriculum using multiple delivery methods (instructor led, web based, audio and video) is an asset;
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices relating to Learning and Performance (gamification, social learning, micro learning) is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems or other database management systems is an asset;
  • Knowledge of multimedia tools and online course authoring tools is an asset.
