Sutherland-Schultz is currently seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Coordinator to join our team. This position will be embedded at our client’s industrial facility in Toronto, supporting the planning and coordination of maintenance activities across operations in both Toronto and Baltimore, USA.
This is a highly organized, hands-on coordination role with a strong focus on maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution. The successful candidate will have experience working in an industrial environment and understand the importance of effectively coordinating labour, materials, equipment, shutdowns, and maintenance priorities to keep operations running safely and efficiently.
While this position will primarily report to the Toronto site, occasional travel to our Head Office in Cambridge and our client site in Baltimore, USA will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities within an industrial environment.
- Develop and maintain short- and long-term maintenance schedules based on operational priorities, equipment requirements, available resources, and production needs.
- Coordinate labour, materials, equipment, contractors, and other resources required to complete scheduled maintenance work.
- Work closely with site operations, maintenance personnel, supervisors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure maintenance activities are effectively planned and communicated.
- Assist with the coordination and planning of plant shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance activities.
- Monitor scheduled work and adjust plans as priorities, operational requirements, and site conditions change.
- Track maintenance activities, outstanding work, schedules, and completion status.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance programs and maintenance planning processes.
- Identify scheduling conflicts, resource constraints, and potential delays and proactively work with the appropriate parties to resolve them.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, records, schedules, and reports.
- Assist with procurement and coordination of required materials, equipment, subcontractors, and services.
- Support maintenance activities for both the Toronto and Baltimore facilities, with the majority of day-to-day responsibilities based in Toronto.
- Participate in maintenance meetings and provide updates regarding schedules, priorities, outstanding work, and upcoming requirements.
- Ensure maintenance planning and coordination activities align with company and client health and safety requirements.
- Travel to other company or client locations as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in industrial maintenance planning, scheduling, or coordination is required.
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling principles within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience coordinating preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
- Experience planning labour, materials, equipment, and contractor requirements.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to adapt schedules and priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with tradespeople, supervisors, management, clients, and contractors.
- Strong computer skills; experience with scheduling software.
- Experience supporting plant shutdowns or major maintenance activities is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel between Canada and the United States as required.

Pay: $70,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
