Job Synopsis
The Seasonal Retail Clerk supports the day-to-day retail operations of MCC Thrift by providing excellent customer service, assisting volunteers, operating cash and reconciliation processes, maintaining merchandise displays, and ensuring a clean, welcoming shopping environment. This role contributes to a positive experience for customers, donors, volunteers, and staff while supporting the mission and values of MCC Thrift.
Availability for weekday, evening, and Saturday shifts is required based on operational needs.
This is a contract role with an end date of Dec 15, 2026. This role will work between 26 hours weekly, preferably 4 shifts a week that would include days and Saturdays as required.
MCC is a charitable organization that partners with churches and community organizations worldwide to walk with people who are disadvantaged. Additional Details:
This role is based at the Thrift on Mill Thrift shop in Leamington Ontario. Hours of work will include day, evening and Saturday shifts as needed
Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada for the duration of their employment. Successful candidates will be required to provide a Police Background Check upon hire.

- Ability to safely meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, standing, bending, and reaching.
Preferred
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Experience in retail, thrift, warehouse, or customer service environments.
- Awareness of second-hand retail operations and market trends.
- Knowledge of antiques, collectibles, and brand recognition.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Retail Operations
- Deliver excellent customer service and contribute to a welcoming, customer-focused retail environment.
- Represent MCC and MCC Thrift positively in all interactions with customers, donors, volunteers, and community members.
- Operate point-of-sale systems, process purchases and refunds, and support cash handling, float preparation, and daily reconciliation activities.
- Respond professionally to customer, donor, and volunteer questions, concerns, and issues.
Merchandising & Shop Presentation
- Maintain attractive, organized merchandise displays and ensure retail floor stock is replenished as needed.
- Assist with seasonal merchandising, feature displays, and preparation of the retail space to support sales and customer experience.
- Support shop closing procedures as required
Volunteer Support
- Provide active, hands-on support and guidance to volunteers while fostering a positive, respectful, and engaging team environment.
Health & Safety
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces in compliance with MCC policies and applicable health and safety requirements.
- Follow established health and safety practices and contribute to a safe environment for staff, volunteers, customers, and donors.

Salary Details
Base salary: $21.63 - Salary stated is an hourly rate. 6 % vacation pay is added to each pay deposit.
