SALARY: $37.57 to $45.72 per hour
Provide leadership and assume the responsibility, authority and accountability for nursing practice and delivery of patient centered care to patients and families on the 3East General Surgery Unit. This is a clinical management role that collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care through planning, organizing and coordinating human, financial and material resources. The Nurse Manager is responsible to ensure that patient care meets standards of practice and systems/processes of care are continually improving.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be reassigned throughout the department, as required.
Active registration with NANB
Bachelor of Nursing Degree
Current BCLS certification and yearly recertification
Minimum of 5 years progressive nursing experience, including recent surgical nursing experience and skills or related surgical care experience
Demonstrated assessment skills in caring for surgical and acutely ill patients
Minimum of 2 years experience in a leadership/management role
Demonstrated effective teaching, interpersonal and team building skills
Demonstrated effective leadership, communication, organizational skills
Demonstrated adherence to relevant legislation including the Personal Health Information Privacy and Access Act to ensure all patient, business, financial and employee information is accessed on a need to know basis
Patient safety is a critical aspect of quality healthcare. Successful candidates must be accountable for creating a culture of safety, working as a team, communicating effectively and responding to adverse events
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a variety of health care providers, including nurses, physicians, managers and staff from other disciplines
Good work record and ability to attend work on a regular basis
Ability to perform the duties of the position
Written and spoken competence in English is required
