Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. You will work with clients and senior team members to deliver accounting, compilation and tax services.
Key Responsibilities
- Engagement Preparation: Complete working paper files for compilation engagements.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements and maintain general ledger records for various business clients.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare corporate and personal income tax returns, along with periodic filings like sales or payroll taxes.
- Bookkeeping Support: Perform or supervise client bookkeeping duties and reconcile bank or credit card accounts.
- Client Communication: Maintain regular contact with clients to gather financial documents and answer routine inquiries under the supervision of a manager or partner.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field.
- Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Professional Accountant) or working towards a CPA designation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word, Quickbooks Online, Sage50, CaseWare, and tax preparation software (TaxPrep).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Core Strengths: Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative on daily tasks.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills to consistently meet fixed calendar deadlines.
- Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills to coordinate smoothly with a small team.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy when handling financial numbers and sensitive data.
Pay will be commensurate with experience.
