Geotechnical Engineer
Cornerstone is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing firm. As the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for supervising subsoil and hazard investigations, modelling and analysing all input information to prepare geotechnical reports describing the findings and the required mitigation works to allow for the safe construction in geotechnical hazardous areas.
CHARACTER & REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering would be an additional asset.
2. Registered as a P.Eng. with EGBC. Registration in Alberta and Saskatchewan would be an additional asset.
3. Minimum of 4 years of work experience in geotechnical engineering (hazard
assessment/slope stability).
4. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and technical design softwares. Proficiency in Civil 3D is preferred.
5. Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and local building codes.
6. Able to liaise with other professionals as well as contractors.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Be present and ready to work at the allotted starting time.
9. Be honest and professional in their work and communication with others within and outside of the office.
10. Focus their entire energy to their work during work hours.
11. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
12. Detail oriented, logical, and analytical thinker.
13. Excellent time management skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepare reports, designs, details, and drawings as required.
2. Perform technical calculations as required.
3. Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction.
4. Inspect work undertaken by contractors to ensure the work was built according to the provided design drawings.
5. Use computer aided design technology for simulation purposes.
6. Work on designated projects as assigned by Supervisors.
7. Follow Cornerstone's PPMP where applicable.
8. Communicate with other team members, make comments, and ask questions when required.
9. Turn in all required paperwork to the Administrative Assistant so that it can be properly recorded and filed.
10. Attend meetings (onsite and offsite) with other team members and/or clients as required.
11. 11. Engage in professional development as it relates to new design software, construction materials and practices, changes in building codes, etc.
12. Maintain a clean, professional work environment.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Geotechnical Engineer will be accountable to the Project Manager and Head Engineer.
