This is a full-time position working with clients in the transitional housing program at Wapiti House/Aberdeen. As a nurse in charge on the team, you will maintain an assigned caseload of clients in helping them achieve and maintain their wellbeing and independence while living with addiction/severe mental illness, utilizing the recovery model. Duties include conducting initial assessments, risk assessments, mental status assessments, developing client-centered care plans, assigning support tasks to team recovery workers, as well as working with family and other community caregivers in best supporting the client's needs. You will use critical thinking and assessment skills to observe and monitor client wellness through regular contact with the client in the community.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 1-3 years mental health experience. Effective time management and prioritization skills, conflict resolution and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to problem solve, demonstrate critical thinking skills and ability to provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments and therapy to individuals. Training, knowledge and skills in assessment and case management skills. Current CPR/BLS certification.
