Job Description:
Cedar Springs designs and builds outstanding outdoor landscapes with some of the finest landscape professionals in the industry. We are always looking for individuals with a passion and skillset for working outdoors and creating exceptional landscape projects. Natural stone masonry is an important part of our work, including fireplaces, pool coping, natural stone steps and walls, flagstone, outdoor kitchens, water features and other custom masonry features.
Who should apply?
Experienced natural stone masons and masonry professionals with at least five years of hands-on experience are encouraged to apply.
We are seeking someone who is passionate about working outdoors, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, enjoys being part of a team, and has the experience to help lead and support other members of the crew.
This is a Lead Hand position, so the successful candidate should be comfortable taking responsibility, helping organize daily work, providing direction to less-experienced team members, and working alongside the crew to keep projects moving efficiently.
Job Duties:
- Install a wide variety of natural stone products
- Lay and align stone according to construction plans and specifications
- Measure, cut, shape and finish natural stone
- Mix and apply mortar for natural stone installations
- Complete natural stone steps, walls, patios, walkways, pool coping, fireplaces and other custom masonry features
- Operate stone saws, grinders and other masonry power tools
- Perform material takeoffs and assist with material planning and ordering
- Operate various landscape equipment including skid steers, excavators and plate tampers
- Drive dump trucks and trailers and float equipment
- Work alongside and provide guidance to other members of the crew
- Perform physical work associated with landscape and masonry construction

- Help ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently
- Provide direction and support to less-experienced crew members
- Communicate effectively with the Foreman and other team members
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe job site
- Demonstrate dependability and accountability
- Maintain Cedar Springs' standards for ethics, integrity and professionalism
Required Skills:
- Minimum five years of hands-on natural stone masonry experience
- Strong knowledge and experience working with natural stone
- Ability to confidently operate stone saws, grinders and basic power tools
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, shape and install natural stone
- Ability to read and work from construction plans and specifications
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively work with and help lead a crew
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors
- Commitment to completing work in a safe, efficient and compliant manner
- Comfortable taking responsibility and helping solve problems in the field
