Your Opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Managers of the Gastroenterology Outpatient Clinic, the Registered Nurse delivers specialized nursing care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment supporting patients with complex gastroenterology conditions. The RN practices in an expanded role, demonstrating a high level of autonomy, clinical expertise, and critical thinking. This position requires a self-directed professional who is able to lead, collaborate, and function independently while serving as a role model within the team. A key focus of the role is complex case management and patient education, working closely with Gastroenterology specialists to coordinate care for patients with multifaceted needs. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, development and coordination of individualized care plans, advanced patient and family education, and navigation of patients through diagnostic and treatment pathways. The clinic operates Monday to Friday from 0800 to 1700; hours of work may be adjusted based on operational needs.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:
Min. 3 years acute medicine and/or equivalent experience within the past 10 years. Demonstrated complex case management experience in the past 3 years in an ambulatory outpatient clinic setting, including clinical and telephone assessment and triage required. Advance knowledge of gastroenterology and hepatology required; this includes regimens, protocols and knowledge of IBD, and Viral Hepatitis B and C treatment experience. Experience in assessment of immunization eligibility for individuals who are immunocompromised, have complex conditions or are on biologics. Ability to attend off-site clinics, if necessary. Experience with adult patient/family teaching. Experience supporting pediatric-to-adult care service transitions required. Demonstrated experience in leadership roles (nurse Clinician / charge nurse / unit-based committee membership). Demonstrated ability to incorporate full scope of nursing practice and knowledge into clinical practice. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred. Efficient computer skills working in a variety of clinical & regional-based programs preferred. Experience with ambulatory workflow in Connect Care.
