The opportunity

As a Finance and Special Projects Leader, you’ll join our Core Business Services (CBS) team and you will help support the important business enablement functions that keep our organization running strong. As a CBS professional, you will work across teams to provide the knowledge, resources and tools that help EY deliver exceptional quality service to our clients, win in the marketplace and support EY’s growth and profitability.

Your key responsibilities

This strategic role works directly with Canadian finance leadership to manage all finance-related activities. Much of the responsibilities will be focused on addressing complex issues facing the firm and develop and implement advanced solutions. This role will focus on advanced analytics to identify forward looking trends, opportunities and risks to the firm, to support strategic decision making by leadership. Other responsibilities include financial reporting and analysis of firm results including revenue, expenses, profitability, people and exposure.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Assists Canadian Finance and Firm Leadership in the strategic delivery of the practice’s financial initiatives.
  • Develops and prepares advanced analytics, reporting and presentations, with a focus on forward looking trends, opportunities and risks.
  • Participates in driving key initiatives that involve process or procedural change for the organization.
  • Creates and implements best practices for process improvement.
  • Helps design and implement reporting to drive strategic growth and success for the firm.
  • Provides effective communication across Canada and with offshore support functions.
  • Communicates complex issues, with solutions, to finance leadership.
  • Assists in the education of client servers and support staff as appropriate.
  • Assists in the month-end P&L close.
To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration; or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in a professional atmosphere in a senior finance/business capacity
  • Proven ability to work with senior leadership
  • Strong leadership, presentation, advanced analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well under deadlines
  • A "quality improvement oriented" innovative approach when dealing with issues
  • Proficiency with SAP is an asset
Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Professional designation, such as CPA, is preferred
  • The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment
