Veterinary Assistant
Fredericton Animal Hospital
Fredericton, NB
Fredericton Animal Hospital needs a veterinary assistant to join our team. We have 5 veterinarians and a staff of 16 and our facility is brand new, with digital radiography, an in-house lab, dentistry, and multi-purpose rigid endoscopy. We are accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association.

For us, it’s not just about the animals, though we do love them. We build long-term relationships with our clients and want people to enjoy coming to see us. We are here to make sure our clients and their pets enjoy their lives together.

In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the veterinary technicians as they complete their work. This includes animal handling, preparing medical and surgical instruments and equipment, cleaning, assisting in medical and surgical procedures, answering the phone, scheduling appointments, inventory management tasks, and general administrative tasks.

This is an entry level position, or for those with previous experience as a veterinary assistant.

The person we’re looking for:
Has experience working in a veterinary hospital, shelter, or pet supplies store, but we will consider all applicants. Loves both animals and people and loves working in a team environment.
Would be described by your friends as organized and a stickler for accuracy. You sweat the small stuff.
Is a fast learner who believes in continuous learning. You will be expected to hit the ground running on day one.
Has confidence and is accountable for their actions. The technicians and veterinarians will delegate a lot of responsibility to you and will depend on you to get the job done.
Can handle days that are random and tasks that vary. When things get busy, you put on a smile and dive in. You’re willing to help out the front staff when needed, and you're able to keep the hospital clean and organized when needed. You get along with others and like to have fun at work!
In return, we offer a fun team-based work environment, an above average compensation and benefits package, and a chance to develop your skills to help animals have long, happy and healthy lives.

We offer:
Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications
Paid vacation and paid sick days
Uniform allowance
Staff discount and health plan provided (medical, dental)
Continuing education opportunities
To apply, please submit cover letter and resume.

We thank everyone for their interest, but only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. Please note that this posting may not be for a current open position, but is being used to collect a pool of potential candidates for a future opening. All applications will be held in strict confidence.
