Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and hands-on CNC Router / Machine Setter & Operator to join our team on a part-time basis.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience operating and setting up CNC routers/machining equipment, troubleshooting CNC programs, and working with CNC control systems. A key part of this position will be repairing and optimizing the existing machine program and configuring a new Ethernet-based controller/interface to make the machine compatible with LinuxCNC software.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong CNC, electrical/electronic, computer, and troubleshooting skills who enjoys working independently and solving technical problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and set up CNC router/machining equipment safely and efficiently.
- Set machine zero points, work offsets, tools, feeds, speeds, and cutting parameters.
- Load, test, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs/G-code.
- Diagnose and correct existing CNC programming and machine-control issues.
- Review the current machine control system and identify required improvements or modifications.
- Install and configure a new Ethernet-based controller/interface for CNC machine control.
- Configure and integrate the machine with LinuxCNC software.
- Establish communication between the computer, Ethernet controller, drives, motors, limit switches, sensors, spindle, and other machine components as required.
- Configure LinuxCNC machine settings, I/O, axes, homing, limits, spindle control, and related parameters.
- Test machine movement and functionality after configuration.
- Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, software, communication, and CNC-control issues.
- Develop and test machine programs for production.
- Perform machine setup and tooling changes.
- Monitor machining operations and ensure finished parts meet required specifications.
- Identify potential machine or programming problems before production.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Document machine settings, programs, configurations, and troubleshooting solutions.
Primary Initial Project
The successful candidate’s first major responsibility will be to:
- Assess the existing CNC router and control system.
- Troubleshoot and correct the existing machine program.
- Determine the appropriate control-system configuration.
- Install/configure the new Ethernet controller/interface.
- Install and configure LinuxCNC.
- Configure machine axes, I/O, limits, homing, spindle control, and other required functions.
- Test and calibrate the machine.
- Confirm reliable communication between the computer, controller, and machine.
- Create or modify the necessary CNC programs.
- Bring the machine into reliable working condition for regular operation.
Pay: $38.00-$45.00 per hour
