The Position
The County of Wetaskiwin No. 10 is seeking to fill a full-time seasonal student in our Information Services department as a Summer Student – Records Filing System Clerk. Reporting to the Manager of Information Services, Records Filing System Clerk will assist with records management activities and a variety of Information Services initiatives. You will contribute to records management activities, process improvement projects and development of information resources. You will gain hands-on administrative experience in a municipal environment.
You will support the County’s strategic priorities by enhancing our access to information and increasing public transparency. This position is based out of the County of Wetaskiwin Administration Building and is for the seasonal period of July 6, 2026 – August 28, 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities
- General records organization and retention review
- Assist in the digitization of physical files
- Verify accuracy between physical and digital files
- Organize the destruction of documents
- Assist with the development and updating of procedures and manuals
- Provide administrative support for Information Services projects and initiatives
Desired Education, Skill Sets and Experience:
- Working towards or completing your High School Diploma or equivalent
- Pursuing post-secondary education in any of the following:
- Business Administration, Bachelor of Business Administration
- Computer and Information Technology
- Communication Arts, Media and Design
- Professionalism, reliability and respect for confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail, this position will be comparing records regularly
- Ability to quickly learn new systems, procedures and municipal policies
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Microsoft 365 experience
This position’s hourly rate is set at: $23.08/hour
Grant Requirements
This student summer opportunity may be funded by the Canada Summer Jobs grant, and all applicants must meet these requirements:
· Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
· Be legally entitled to work in Canada
· Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment
